Winkreative has worked with the Swiss newspaper of record, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, across a number of its titles. We designed a new standalone quarterly called NZZ Geschichte that covered a range of Swiss-related historical topics. In addition, we redesigned the front cover of the paper’s Sunday edition, NZZ am Sonntag, and outlined a new editorial strategy and design for its monthly supplement, Z magazine. Our redesign and fresh editorial approach allowed Neue Zürcher Zeitung to become a relevant voice in the contemporary luxury world, which attracted more advertisers and attention from a new generation of readers.

Stand out titles
The mastheads of Z magazine and NZZ Geschichte evoke Switzerland’s refined design heritage while feeling fresh and contemporary.

Art pieces
For the debut issue of Z we art directed a still life story using items inspired by Coco Chanel’s legendary dinner parties, and a fashion feature shot at the Barbican Centre in London.

Swiss history
NZZ Geschichte covers a broad spectrum of historical topics that relate to Switzerland. The debut issue included stories on the time Napolean spent in the country and a history of the bond between mother and child.
