Overview
Take one globetrotting character, a series of sun-drenched adventures and a stylish suite of accessories, and you’ve got the basic ingredients for A Year of Sun – the Winkreative-produced film for luxury eyewear brand Persol.
Assembling a hugely talented team of contributors, Winkreative devised a character and storyline that would bring to life the brand’s strapline ‘between you and the sun’. Tracking the urbane gentleman as he roams the world in an endless, retro-styled summer, the animation was greeted by popular and critical acclaim, making the official film selection at ANNECY 2012.
The end result was the product of intense collaboration with designers Kevin Dart and Chris Turnham, directors Kevin Dart and Stéphane Coëdel, and Passion Pictures, with original music by David Newby.
Winkreative also conceived the idea for a limited-edition box for Persol’s classic sunglasses, which we were then commissioned to create. Crafted in Japan from walnut wood and lined with velvety suede, the case is every bit as covetable as the glasses it stores.
